Ti Tolpo Bader is an artist interested in portraiture, the
beauty of nature's vistas, and sculpture. She has been a
full-time studio artist since 1986.
Ti was exposed to the
artist's life and the freedom of expression while growing up in
the family studio of parents Carl and Lily Tolpo of
Chicago, Illinois. She started drawing and experimenting with
various mediums at an early age. Ti also posed as a
portrait subject for many of her parents’ studio projects,
thus understanding portraiture from the point of view of the
sitter. The family would take annual summer-long painting and
camping trips to Yellowstone and other National Parks.
During these expeditions, Bader developed her love of landscapes
and animals. Ti has lived on the Eastern Seaboard, the Midwest
prairie, and in the high regions of the Rocky Mountains and now
resides in Prescott, Arizona
Using portraiture, Ti
reveals the subject's inner self through facial expressions and
figurative gesture. Her life experiences in dance, music,
entrepreneurship, and culinary cuisine give her an insightful
world-view. In her landscape painting, she is drawn to the
expressive qualities of nature and the beautiful vast vistas of
the land. These expressive qualities of nature involve a
personification of natural forms, which lends a human quality to
her landscapes.
